Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (December 15, 2021) - Guests visiting Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta this holiday season can get in the festive spirit by enjoying a new signature Christmas Clericot cocktail. The light and refreshing cocktail, popular in Mexico during the holidays due to the warm temperatures, is a complement to Santa's arrival onto the resort's beach via parasail, insuite Christmas Trees, traditional Mexican posada celebrations, Gingerbread Workshops and more offered throughout the property during the holidays. For anyone unable to travel to Mexico this holiday season, Velas Vallarta shares an easy recipe for the Christmas Clericot to make at home.

Christmas Clericot

Ingredients:

• - ¼ cup of champagne
• - 3 oz hibiscus tea (recipe below)
• - 3 ice cubes
• - Optional: green apple cubes, sliced strawberry, blueberries, cinnamon stick and mint

Hibiscus Water:

• - 2 quarts of water
• - ¾ cup to 1 cup of sugar (depending on sweetness preference)
• - 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers

Directions:

• - Make hibiscus water by combining Hibiscus powder (available on Amazon) and water or make it fresh by boiling water with sugar in a medium saucepan. Heat until boiling and the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat, stir in the dried hibiscus flowers then cover and let seep for 20 minutes. Strain into a pitcher and discard the used hibiscus flowers. Store in refrigerator to chill until ready to make the drink.
• - Add ice to an Old Fashioned glass. Top with champagne and hibiscus tea.
• - Decorate with green apple cubes, sliced strawberry, blueberries, cinnamon stick or mint
